Juniper Group acquires hotel direct booking technology provider Bookassist

Irish company will join Constellation Software-owned Juniper Group from January 2027

Juniper Group has acquired Bookassist, the Ireland-based hotel technology provider specialising in direct bookings, in a move that will expand its portfolio of travel technology solutions.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Bookassist will join Juniper, an operating group within Constellation Software, on January 1, 2027, moving from its current parent, software holding company Vertus.

Founded in 1999, Bookassist provides technology and services designed to help hotels drive direct bookings and has rebuilt its offering around artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years.

The company has also strengthened its leadership team, recently appointing Don Cronin as chief executive officer.

Joining Juniper's travel technology-focused portfolio is expected to provide Bookassist with access to additional solutions and opportunities for growth, while enabling it to expand the services available to its hotel customers.

The acquisition will bring Bookassist into a wider portfolio of travel technology businesses, including companies specialising in metasearch connectivity, digital asset and content management, automated check-in and check-out, website design, digital marketing and distribution management.

The wider group includes businesses such as DerbySoft, Traveltek, Leonardo Worldwide, Ariane Systems, Vizergy, Hotetec, RezMagic and Roibos, giving Bookassist opportunities to combine its direct booking capabilities with complementary technologies across the guest journey.

Juniper Group has continued to expand its travel technology portfolio through acquisitions, including DerbySoft earlier in 2026, as it seeks to broaden the range of solutions available to travel and hospitality businesses.

Bookassist said the first new services resulting from the partnership are expected to launch before the end of 2026, for both new and existing customers.

Don Cronin, CEO of Bookassist, said: “This is a turning point for Bookassist. We've spent the last two years investing heavily in our technology, our use of AI and our leadership team so that we can deliver more for hotels, faster.

“Joining Juniper multiplies what that investment can achieve. Together with our sister companies, we touch so much of the guest journey that we can truly make a difference to a hotel's revenue and margin in ways that others simply can't.”

The acquisition follows a two-year period of investment in Bookassist's technology, research and development, AI capabilities and leadership team, as it looks to support hotels in increasing direct revenue and managing distribution costs.

For Juniper, the deal adds a hotel direct booking platform to its travel technology portfolio, extending its reach across the hotel distribution and guest experience ecosystem.
