Carrier signals intention to take greater control of holidays division
ATCORE named as easyJet Holidays’ technology partner
Budget carrier easyJet has chosen technology developer ATCORE Group to build its new holidays booking and reservation platform.
The announcement was made this morning as Luton-based easyJet gave a trading update to the City.
EasyJet, under new chief executive Johan Lundgren, has signalled its intention to take greater control of its holidays division which has to date been operated as a partnership fulfilled by a third party beds supplier.
The current partner is Hotelbeds’ Hotelopia who took over from Lowcost Holiday Group in 2014.
The airline has brought in experienced tour operating know how from Lundgren’s former employer Tui Group as it targets the 20 million passengers a year that book accommodation to go with an easyJet flight but not with the carrier.
EasyJet Holidays, which will operate as a standalone division within the company, will adopt ATCORE’s widely used Atcom platform.
Atcom is a leading holiday technology platform, powering over £12 billion in bookings annually and used by a number of the largest operators across the UK, Europe and north America.
