Skyscanner debuts packages in the UK

Metasearch giant diversifies its products, with more markets to follow

Metasearch icon Skyscanner has unveiled the launch of Packages, its new package comparison product.

The firm have rolled it out in the UK first with plans to roll it out in other markets later in the year.

Providers, which include tour operators, airlines and OTAs, are said to be "carefully selected" and all ATOL protected. The package providers consist of tour operators, OTAs and airlines from across leading brands such as TUI, Jet2, Expedia, On the Beach, Easyjet holidays, Lastminute and Loveholidays.

This means that Skyscanner now offers flights, hotel, car and package options as part of its metasearch platform to grow its already double digital growth figures in travel products.

It's said it has already seeing high demand for package holidays, with demand up 113% for the start of the year.

Cat King, global VP of commercial at Skyscanner, said: “January is the busiest booking month for UK travellers, as plans for a holiday in the sun provide a boost to holidaymakers and the travel industry.

"We believe that finding the best travel deal shouldn't feel like another chore and that’s why we’ve launched Packages, our new package comparison product, which searches 25 million packages every day across the biggest UK package holiday providers to find travellers the best options for their budgets.

“We’re excited to shake up a traditional part of the travel industry.  By applying our smart technology and unrivalled pricing data to package holidays, we’re doing what Skyscanner is known for - comparing the best options and taking the stress out of planning," he said.

"We’re already seeing strong demand at the start of the year for flight-plus-hotel, giving package providers a powerful opportunity to reach engaged travellers on our platform.”
