Roles to go as Comtec restructures
Travel technology provider Comtec is to undergo a restructure of its account management and new business team putting five roles at risk of redundancy.
An announcement was made today to staff at Comtec’s Cwmbran headquarters in Wales. A redundancy consultation period has started, relating to five positions at the company.
In an unrelated move, group director Richard Turner announced at the beginning of this month that he is leaving the company ahead of working out a notice period.
Confirming the redundancy consultation, Turner said it had come about as a result of a business planning exercise and that there was “no intention to downsize the business”.
“The company is talking much more about aligning programme product managers to customer requirements,” he said.
“They will therefore reshape the business and there is a redundancy programme. There will be different people allocated to manage the relationship and delivery programme and commercial aspect.”
Comtec is structured around three business divisions: major accounts (including Tui Travel, Thomas Cook and US-based Travel Impressions), the remaining client base, and internal research and development.
Turner added: “There will be no reduction in headcount, but there will be a reallocation of resources to manage customers in a different way to ensure a better customer experience.”
