KAYAK’s Summer Travel Trends Report unveils go-to destinations
China back on top for British travellers this summer
British travellers are making an unexpected return to China this summer with Germany also in hot demand along with Thailand, Manila, Tivat, New York and Morocco, an industry trends report has revealed.
KAYAK’s Summer Trends Travel Report has just dropped and it’s proving that falling airfares, football fever and cityscape summer saver trips are the flavour of the season.
According to the annual report, compared with the same period last year searches for a summer in China were up 51 percent - the reason, flights to Beijing have dropped 33 percent and 22 percent to Shanghai, so it’s a cost-saving destination.
Other spots with the biggest price drops include Bodrum (Turkey), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Istanbul (Turkey), Antalya (Turkey), Dubrovnik (Croatia) and Hyderabad (India).
Searches for Germany have tripled, as British football fans look forward to the highly-anticipated Euros and for cost-efficient flights outside of Europe, Morocco is KAYAK’s recommendation.
When it comes to the ideal week to fly within Europe, the report suggests June 24, with prices sitting at around £205 on average.
For those looking to travel outside of Europe, the week of September 9 currently offers the cheapest airfares, averaging around £300.
“This summer, we’ve seen a few clear trends coming through, as post-Covid long-haul travel continues to buoy travellers,” KAYAK Travel Expert, Rachel Mumford, said.
“Brits seem to be keen to tick off bucket list travel to China, since the country re-opened its borders last year, and this summer could be the perfect time to go with falling prices.”
“Football fever set to sweep the nation has led to German destinations topping KAYAKs trending summer destinations this year as we see sports tourism soar, and travellers are still able to get good deals to Paris if they’re hoping to soak up the summer sporting buzz.”
