Lastminute reveals British weather impacting bookings
Lastminute.com CEO Luca Concone has revealed that bookings to sun and beach destinations were up 6% in July compared to June.
It’s thought that rainy weather in the UK is causing the rise as 40% of July bookings for sunny destinations were for July departures and 32% for August. This percentage is higher than in previous years.
Concone said: “It appears that some British travellers are responding to the wet weather being experienced in the UK at present.
“Spain is still our most popular destination with 45% of July bookings, followed by Greece at 15%, whilst Turkey accounts for 11% of sun and beach bookings”.
