TravelZoo grabs Stephen Dunk from Teletext

TravelZoo has appointed ex-Teletext Holidays On TV managing director Stephen Dunk to be its first commercial director in the UK.


Dunk will work alongside European managing director Chris Loughlin as the US-based company looks to grow its operations in the UK and the continent.


The Top 20 Deals model pioneered by TravelZoo has become a popular fixture for UK travel brands in recent month, with similar launches by Cheapflights, Henoo and TravelSupermarket.


Dunk’s arrival at the London office of TravelZoo coincides with a management shake-up at Teletext Holidays announced this week that sees the TV and online divisions merged under managing director Matt Cheevers.


Loughlin said: “Now we are a strong brand we need to have senior management come in to help us continue our growth.”


Across Europe there are currently 750,000 subscribers to the TravelZoo weekly Top 20 Deals email bulletin. Globally there are around 11 million subscribers.


TravelZoo recently launched an office in France and has seen its German operation grow steadily in recent months, partnering regularly with 25 travel companies.
