Travelport warns agents about email scam
Travelport has warned agents to be vigilant after a scam email was sent out asking agents for confidential customer details.
Worldchoice issued a notice to its members after one agent received the email and entered his password, which allowed the sender to gain access to the agency’s systems and make a “substantial amount” of bookings.
Travelport advised agents to contact them if they received a suspicious email.
A spokesman said: “Travelport has been made aware of possible phishing attempts via web-based requests for confidential customer details.
“We have therefore sent out an alert to our customers via our ASK Travelport portal urging them to be extra vigilant and not respond to these emails.
“These emails have not come from Travelport and we are asking customers to contact their local Travelport helpdesk if they receive requests regarding customer data so that we can deal with them through our security processes.”
