Addition of UK means 45 countries are now connected to the system
NHS COVID pass accepted as equivalent to EU digital certificate
The UK’s NHS Covid pass is to be accepted by the European Union as an equivalent to its Digital Covid Certificate from tomorrow.
The European Commission confirmed the update today for both the UK and Armenia’s certification systems.
The addition of the UK and Armenia means 45 countries across four continents are now “connected to the EU system”.
Good news for travellers to the UK and Armenia!
Today, we adopted two new decisions certifying that COVID-19 certificates issued by these two countries are equivalent to the EU Digital COVID Certificate.

EU commissioner for justice, Didier Reynders, said the union was “open to other countries to join our system”.
The EU Digital Covid Certificate is not mandatory to enter Europe but offers a platform for travellers to confirm their vaccination, recovery, or test status.
Third-country vaccine passports can be accepted in the EU, but “preferably under condition of reciprocity”, according to Reynders in a recent interview with French media.
