Duo hope to shape next-generation airline retailing together
TUI becomes first airline to sign up for Navitaire's next-gen airline solution Stratos
TUI Airline, one of Europe’s leading leisure airline groups, will be a launch customer for Navitaire Stratos, the next-generation retailing portfolio built for low-cost carriers (LCCs) and hybrid airlines.
Navitaire, which is an Amadeus company, has already worked with TUI for more than two decades but this latest phase introduces new functionalities such as a modern shopping cart feature, which Travolution exclusively revealed to the market last month.
This innovation Navitaire believes "mirrors the convenience of leading e-commerce platforms", making it easier for travelers to plan and adjust their journeys.
Alongside, TUI Airline will be able to offer personalised recommendations and access to third-party services including car rentals, activities, and accommodation options, directly through its websites.
Peter Glade, chief commercial officer of TUI, said: “We are on a journey to build the most modern airline commercial set up in the industry. Navitaire Stratos will be a cornerstone of this transformation.
"Jointly we will bring even more value to our customers and further improve the traveler experience. With Stratos we will be able to create contextual and relevant offers for travellers, including ancillaries.
"It will elevate our retailing capabilities with intelligent recommendations, dynamic offers, and a shopping cart that makes it easy for customers to convert their selections into an order or save them for later.”
The new solution is aligned with IATA Offer and Order standards to power modern retailing practices, and being built on a flexible, cloud-native technology stack.
It is powered by an open architecture and leverages AI capabilities.
Cyril Tetaz, executive vice president, airline solutions at Amadeus, said: “We are proud to work with TUI Airline as a launch customer for Navitaire Stratos.
"As the group transitions from our New Skies solution, close collaboration on a shared long-term roadmap will ensure business continuity, while helping shape the next-generation Offer and Order solution of reference for low-cost and hybrid carriers.”
TUI InfoTec, the TUI Group IT subsidiary, will lead the collaboration with Amadeus.
