Appointment to power next phase of growth
Journey names Andrew Metcalfe as Group Chief Technology & Product Officer
He joins from Access Hospitality, where he most recently served as CTO and product & engineering director, where he joined through the acquisition of Guestline by The Access Group.
Following the acquisition he led Product Development across the full portfolio of Access Hospitality products including SHR, Resdiary & Staah, leading technology and product teams across a complex, multi-product hospitality portfolio.
Prior to Guestline and Access Hospitality, he also held senior roles at VE Interactive and OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings.
On top of his experience in technology roles, Metcalfe is also a hotel owner, having developed Downham Hall, a Georgian boutique hotel in Essex.
At Journey, Metcalfe will lead technology and product strategy across the company’s Hospitality Performance Platform.
The appointment is said to have come at a time of "strong momentum" for Journey, as the company invests in new product functionality, including an Experience Management System (EMS), among other things.
Simon Bullingham, CEO of Journey, said: “Andrew joins Journey at a pivotal moment in our growth. As we continue to evolve the platform and strengthen our product delivery, his experience leading large, complex hospitality product teams is exactly what we need.
"Just as importantly, Andrew understands hospitality from the inside out. His appointment underlines our commitment to building a platform that helps hoteliers move beyond the room and start capturing revenue opportunities from moments that surround the stay by retailing experiences and making them more shoppable for guests.”
Andrew Metcalfe, group chief technology & product officer at Journey, added: “Hospitality is an industry I feel deeply connected to, both professionally and personally.
"Journey is bringing a new way of thinking to how hotels drive direct revenue, particularly as the industry begins to look beyond rate-led growth alone.
"I’m excited to work with Simon and his excellent team, now as a colleague in addition to being a customer, to strengthen the platform, accelerate delivery and help shape the next stage of Journey’s ambitious growth.”
