Expedia names Ariane Gorin as new CEO

Peter Kern announced his resignation

Expedia Group made a shock announcement last week, that its current CEO, Peter Kern, will be stepping down after four years leading the company and named Ariane Gorin as his successor.

Gorin, a Travolution Achievement Award winner, is currently president of Expedia for Business and will take over from Kern effective May 13.

As of February 12, she has also taken a seat on an expanded board of directors, which has been expanded from 12 to 13 members to make room.

When she takes the CEO post on May 13, she will then become a member of the board’s executive committee, too.

Expedia have said Kern will assist Gorin in the transition and stay on as vice chairman and member of the board.

“I am truly honoured to have the opportunity to lead Expedia Group as we build on the foundations established by Peter, our leadership team, and our global workforce,” Gorin said in a statement.

“Leading our multibillion-dollar B2B business has been an incredible experience and I look forward to even greater growth ahead for the entire Company."

She added: "It’s an exciting time in the Company’s history, and I’m energized by the opportunities ahead for our employees, travelers, and partners.”
