Expedia adds Flight Deals feature to its app
Expedia is rolling out a mobile feature that aggregates, in real time, airfares priced below typical levels and introduces an interactive map. Beyond price alone, the tool aims to surface practical, relevant options for travellers.
Expedia is launching “Flight Deals”, a new tool available exclusively in the Expedia app. It surfaces fares that are at least 20% lower than the typical predicted price for similar flights. A customisable deal feed presents the best opportunities of the moment, while an interactive map (currently available on iOS) helps travellers spot, at a glance, the destinations offering the strongest value. With this tool, Expedia aims to speed up the search for relevant airfares and boost confidence at checkout, thanks to a clearer view of value.
Beyond simple price tracking, Expedia draws on historical data and more than thirty price‑context factors (including seasonality and booking windows) to assess a trip’s “value”. An additional quality check filters out fares with more than one stop or super‑long layovers.
Spotting the real deals
With Flight Deals, Expedia wants to help travellers determine when a fare is genuinely great value and reduce the uncertainty that often accompanies buying plane tickets. By evaluating trips—not just prices—the feature prioritises smarter options, limiting compromises on layover times or itinerary complexity.
