Payment solutions provider WEX has expanded its offering to contract in all European Union and European Economic Area countries.
The move enables the company to provide virtual prepaid and debit payments, including eWallets.
WEX said the initiative, along with its recently announced currency expansion, is part of the company’s plans to “significantly expand into the European travel payments market”, which is estimated by Phocuswright to be worth an estimated €264 billion.
Ian Johnson, WEX’s commercial director Europe, virtual payments, said: “This is a significant milestone in our European expansion as we’re now open for business in 31 EEA countries.
“We have also invested in growing our team to ensure that we are able to deliver value to as many travel businesses as possible.
“We strongly believe that we have the best product portfolio and are able achieve real savings for our customers with our full suite of travel payment solutions.
“Our aim is to simplify our customers’ lives with seamless, tailor-made payment solutions, allowing them to focus on their most important business driver – the customer.”
