European expansion for ATPCO announced with new base in Bulgaria

ATPCO to expand with new Bulgarian office

ATPCO has announced European expansion with a new office opening in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The base will serve as a product development centre for ATPCO focusing in key strategic priorities including the company’s retailing and next generation storefront (NGS) abilities.

The announcement came on the two-year anniversary of ATPCO’s Routehappy acquisition.

The Bulgarian office will initially have team of five employees, with plans to grow to 15 employees by the end of 2020.

ATPCO wants the team to spearhead the development of its NGS API software with a new product demo to try for rapid retail growth.

The team will be led by Boyan Hristov who has first-hand experience with ATPCO’s complex data sets and worked on similar retailing and tax calculation projects for the company.

Hristov said: “The opportunity to join ATPCO and help to fundamentally shape its new retailing and NGS products was an offer my team and I couldn’t refuse.”

“Working for a company so embedded in the airline industry made a lot of sense for me and my team. Our former work with ATPCO and understanding of the data enables us to hit the ground running and make a big impact with a great team.”

Hristov and his team will report directly to ATPCO’s chief product officer Jaivin Anzalota in an effort to build the global product, commercial and retailing teams together.

Rolf Purzer, president and chief executive officer for ATPCO, said: “Investing in retailing and the enablement of our next generation storefront are key focus areas for ATPCO and align with our top strategic priorities for 2020.”
“With this new European office, we are closing resource gaps on the product team, and at the same time investing in our retailing capacity. ATPCO’s expansion is something we are all incredibly proud of, and we welcome them to the team.”

ATPCO will make further hiring decisions to support the development work as the initial 5 employees have experience with the airline industry and airline retailing data.

This announcement follows a recent hiring trend for ATPCO, the company having recently expanded its retailing and sales teams in its other global locations including the hire of Chris Phillips at its head of global accounts.

With the new Bulgarian office, ATPCO will have offices in Dulles, VA, where its headquartered, London, New York, Miami and Singapore.
