TrustedStays introduces short-term rentals to GDS distribution with Amadeus partnership

API connection the Global Distribution System will 'give customers more choice and flexibility when it comes to choosing accommodation that best fits their needs'

Short-term let platform TrustedStays is bringing alternative non-hotel accommodation to GDS distribution for the first time in a partnership struck with Amadeus.

TrustedStays was originally developed by two industry bodies in Britain, the Short Term Accommodation Association (STAA) and the UK Apartment Association (UKAA).

It was built during the COVID pandemic to make empty properties freely available to essential NHS staff who needed to stay away from home but continue working.

The protocols and processes that had to be developed to make product available to government prompted the decision to explore wider corporate distribution through GDSs.

As part of this global deal with Amadeus, TrustedStays will offer an API connection to provide a route for professional short-term rental property owners, property management companies and the multi-family/build-to-rent industry to offer their inventory to corporates and business travellers using the GDS.

TrustedStays said this “will give customers more choice and flexibility when it comes to choosing accommodation that best fits their needs”.

Merilee Karr, chief executive of TrustedStays, said: “We are delighted to have this agreement with Amadeus which, for the first time, promises to offer corporate travel bookers the best of both worlds, bringing access to an innovative new product type within the tried and trusted GDS platform.

“The business travel landscape is an evolving one, where travellers now want more of a say about where they stay and for how long. Short-term rentals are quickly gaining credibility as a mainstream option in many companies’ business travel plans.”

The new partners say research has found that the needs of corporate travellers during the pandemic has changed with hybrid and remote working now the norm.

As travel continues to bounce back they believe the distribution of non-hotel accommodation options will appeal to a new generation of digital nomads and corporates enjoying more of a mix of business travel and leisure (bleisure).

Katja Bohnet, vice-president hospitality distribution at Amadeus, said: “With TrustedStays connected to Amadeus, corporate travel bookers can access a greater range of accommodation to offer their employees in the systems they already use.

“We value these innovative partnerships that not only support industry recovery but offer our customers more options on top of the over one million properties already available within Amadeus.”
