Holiday Pirates names former Travelzoo head of travel sales as UK boss
Holiday Pirates has appointed the former head of travel sales at rival deals publisher Travelzoo to head up its UK division.
The German deals specialist, which has built its business promoting travel on Facebook, announced Nick Cooper has joined the firm as head of market UK.
Holiday Pirates established a UK base in Camden, London, in January 2017 initially under Tony Rosa, who left the business last year.
The firm said Cooper, who has worked in sales and marketing for 12 years, “will spearhead the next phase of British development”.
Cooper said: “I’m thrilled to finally be part of the HolidayPirates team. I have been watching the platform’s growth via social media for some time now and its concept and mission has always intrigued me.
“I am looking forward to applying my skills and experience to further enhance an already effective concept.
“With such a strong and loyal following and excellent value for money, the
sky’s the limit for this organisation”
Holiday Pirates currently operates in ten markets and in seven different languages. Cooper will oversee a team of 11, with the UK being its second-largest after Germany.
The firm has offices in Berlin, London, Seville, Boston, and Lyon as well as a technology centre in Belgrade.
It currently employs over 220 drawn from 37 different nationalities. Since its founding in 2011, the travel start-up has grown a following of over 10 million on Facebook.
David Armstrong, chief executive said: “We are proud to welcome Nicholas on board, who apart from having a fantastic track record in sales and business development, will also bring along his vast experience in team leadership within the travel industry.
“We are all confident he will help us continue our streak of fantastic results and reach unrivalled heights in the UK tourism market.”
