Expedia is to resume distribution of American Airlines fares following the resolution of a dispute over moves by the carrier to push sales through its own Direct Connect system.

Details of the agreement thrashed out between the two companies has not been disclosed. All that they would say through a joint statement is that a memorandum of understanding has been agreed “that will allow the companies to resume doing business together, effective immediately”.

Access to fares and schedule information of American Airlines and its subsidiary American Eagle has been restored for search and ticketing on Expedia and Hotwire sites worldwide initially via global distribution systems.

Expedia plans to access American’s fares, schedules, and customised travel products and services via American’s direct connect link by using aggregation technology provided by a GDS.

“Expedia is committed to working with airlines, GDS and other technology partners to ensure continued innovation within the Expedia marketplace,” the statement said.
