Travel price comparison website, Travelsupermarket.com, has teamed up with Guardian Unlimited to offer a new web tool that matches travel deals to suit the destination a viewer is reading about.

The new feature, which is now live on Guardian Unlimited’s travel website, monitors the destination the viewer is reading about and programmes a gadget within the article to provide bespoke travel deals.

Travelsupermarket director Chris Nixon says it is the first time a website has been able to ‘know’ what a viewer is reading about and offer travel solutions to fit.

“We are very excited to be the first to offer an intuitive and interactive tool that can tailor offers directly to a viewer’s interests,” he said.

“And because the tool searches all the travel providers’ websites, in real time, the user is offered the best possible deals in the market.”

If a user clicks on to an article about New York, the tool will automatically provide a search box programmed with details of the country and city, as well as a dropdown list of the city’s airports.

Users then have the option to conduct a search according to their required dates and departure airport.

Nixon added: “Once the tool has been successfully implemented on the Guardian Unlimited site, we will roll it out to other interested sites.”
