Icelandic carrier says it needs to be able to respond to uncertain market conditions
Start-up airline Play and Accelya agree revenue management partnership
New Icelandic airline Play has signed an agreement to work with Accelya on revenue management and strategy.
The carrier will use the travel technology specialist’s Revenue Management (airRM) and Data Visualization within its FLX Platform.
Accelya said this will support the new airline to make more profitable decisions and better respond to changing market conditions.
Martin Gibbings, senior director of account management and sales at Accelya, said: “Uncertain trading conditions have long been a significant challenge for airline commerce executives.
“Starting an airline at the tail-end of a pandemic is not for the faint-hearted.
“However, we are confident that the superior functionality of Accelya Revenue Management will enable Play to optimise revenues, setting them off on a path to success. We wish the team all the best in their exciting endeavour.”
Sonja Arnórsdóttir, director of revenue management at Play, added: “Given the current operating environment, we spent extra time reviewing our commercial system possibilities and were particularly mindful that revenue management systems were developing even faster to respond to changes in demand.
“Because of the functionality, expert support, system flexibility and regular updates of concepts and functions, we selected Accelya.”
Accelya works with 80 airlines to identify sales opportunities, control pricing, and review the market and competitors to optimise revenue.
