Skyscanner selected to power Groupon’s flight search tool
Local deals provider Groupon is to offer flight search and booking options in a deal with Skyscanner.
The flight search tool will be available to Groupon users in the UK initially, with the option to expand into other countries.
Customers will be able to access the flight search tool via a Groupon Getaways section of its website, which advertises holiday offers.
The flights data is provided through Skyscanner’s white label bespoke travel search tool which is fully customised to fit with Groupon’s branding.
Skyscanner already powers a flight search tool on Groupon’s Singapore website.
The new offering follows white label partnerships for the travel search engine with MSN, Flybe and Conde Nast.
Skyscanner’s commercial director, Hugh Aitken, said: “This partnership is a natural fit given both Skyscanner and Groupon’s vision of providing value and choice to customers.
“We were already powering flight search on Groupon’s Singapore site with our cutting-edge white label, and we are delighted to now be able to offer our travel search technology to Groupon’s European customers.”
Jonathan Starkings, EMEA director of travel for Groupon, said: “Our goal is for any customer who wants to book a getaway to check Groupon first.
“Giving our customers the power to search and book flights is the latest step in our transition into becoming the world’s leading local marketplace.”
