Awards use data-led approach to rank best properties in bid to cure ‘choice paralysis’
Hotels.com announces 2024 Perfect Somewheres Awards
Hotels.com has announced its top 1% of UK hotels in a new awards scheme called ‘Perfect Somewheres’.
The Expedia Group brand has ranked hotels based on how they treat guests, using a data-driven approach to factor in traveller reviews, interactions with staff and ratings on property facilities and condition.
Some of the 700 winning hotels are Hotels.com VIP Access partners, meaning additional perks are offered to their guests.
Hotels.com says the list provides a way to cure what it has dubbed “holiday choice paralysis”, where too many options available make it difficult for travellers to decide where to stay – which is says 45% of travellers say they suffer from.
Its research found 24% of customers spend more than 10 hours researching which hotel to stay at, and 20% give up altogether due to how time-consuming it became.
Some 20% of the 2,000 survey respondents said they would clean the bathroom or change the bedsheets to avoid the stress associated with booking their stay.
Almost a quarter (22%) said they are more likely, now than ever before, to use a credible hotel-grading program to source their stays.
Expedia Group senior vice president of global communications, Lauri Metrose, said: “Perfect Somewheres 2024 recognises the hotel industry’s creme de la crème.
“Most programmes use only reviews, or focus solely on luxury — our new awards program spotlights hotels that craft extraordinary experiences and elevate the travel journey for our guests, regardless of the number of stars.
“This programme fuels a powerful partnership: We showcase our partners’ excellence, and together, we connect travellers with their perfect somewhere. We look forward to these awards becoming a benchmark for excellence in hospitality.”
Perfect Somewheres 2024 provides winning hotels with guest insights to help them refine their offerings and ‘stay ahead of the curve’.
A selection of the winning hotels include:
- Nomad London, London
- Fingal – A Luxury Floating Hotel, Edinburgh
- Minster Mill Hotel, Cotswolds
- The Londoner, London
- Dakota Glasgow, Glasgow
- Moxy Manchester City, Manchester
- The Aviator, Hampshire
