Expedia TAAP launches an API and tools for agencies

New API and custom booking IDs for agencies

Expedia Group’s Travel Agent Affiliate Program (TAAP), the group’s B2B programme for agencies, has equipped its platform with new tools: a back-office API and a feature that lets agencies add their own internal reference number to bookings. The programme frames the move as a shift from a simple booking tool to a more connected ecosystem. The aim is to cut manual work, improve booking tracking and revenue reconciliation, and give travel advisors tools that plug into their existing software.

The API introduces real-time push notifications on booking data and expected revenue. Information is sent directly into agencies’ operational and finance systems, or those of their technology providers, reducing repeated exports and manual reconciliation. In parallel, the ability to add an agency-defined identifier to each booking — particularly for accommodation — is designed to make it easier to organise files across travellers, trips and internal systems. Teams can group, trace and update itineraries more quickly, helping to keep client communications smooth.

“Travel advisors’ operations are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and their technology needs are evolving accordingly,” said Robin Lawther, vice-president of Expedia TAAP and business development at Expedia Group. Centralising data flows is intended to ease often fragmented processes and time-consuming administrative tasks. “These new features are designed to help agencies work more efficiently at every stage,” Lawther added. “By reducing manual work and improving visibility, we enable advisors to spend less time on admin and more time growing their business.”

Expedia TAAP provides access to Expedia Group’s inventory — including hotels, holiday rentals, flights, packages, car hire and activities — with commissions paid to agencies.
