Travel insurance product supplier to the trade, Rock Insurance, has launched new cover to specifically protect gadgets holidaymakers take abroad.
My Gadget Buddy has been developed to insure possessions like camcorders, cameras, smartphones, Sat-Navs, iPods, games consoles, headphones and laptops which are often not covered by conventional policies.
Rock said it carried out research that found both leisure and corporate travellers are increasingly conscious of the expensive items they travel with and want cover for them.
The policy covers up to five items to a maximum value of £10,000 per year for theft, accidental damage, malicious damage, water or liquid damage and mechanical breakdown.
Overseas cover can be obtain as an add-on to conventional travel insurance policies or stand-alone home and away cover is also available.
Antony Martin, managing director of Rock Insurance, said: “My Gadget Buddy offers the travel industry an opportunity to reap the rewards from the sales of gadget insurance in a market flooded with technology lovers.
