Coronavirus: Malta offers virtual mental health retreats for travel trade professionals

The first retreat on May 22 is designed to help attendees improve their wellbeing

Malta Tourism Authority has partnered with wellbeing social enterprise Talent Courtyard to launch Virtual Retreats for travel sales professionals.

The first retreat on May 22 will showcase Malta and is designed to help attendees improve their wellbeing during Mental Health Awareness Week.

It will feature “the sights and sounds of Malta while combining relaxation techniques with positive thinking and creative expression”.

The Malta instalment is to be the first in a series of Virtual Retreats in cooperation with destinations by Talent Courtyard.

Founder Andrea Meszaros said: “During these challenging times, we’ve seen an increase in travel industry professionals looking to improve their wellbeing and mental health, staying connected and continue dreaming about experiences until we’re able to travel again.

“We designed a 360-degree virtual retreat experience to keep the travel moments alive and bring the holiday feeling from a destination through our wellbeing programmes into our guests’ home, while staying safe at home. Our de-stressing, interactive workshops help to improve an individual’s mood, stimulate their mind and ultimately enhance their wellbeing.

“We’ve had a lot of interest from tourist boards and hotel brands wanting to take part and are absolutely delighted to be launching in partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority, as Malta and Gozo are perfect locations to host a wellbeing retreat.”

Natalie Swinburne, trade marketing manager at Malta Tourism Authority, added: “The wellbeing of our partners and agents at this time is really important to us; a collaboration with Talent Courtyard to host our first ever half-day Virtual Retreat provided the perfect opportunity to support and look after them.

“Malta and Gozo’s wellbeing offering is getting stronger and stronger. We will bring some of our on-island experiences to our travel sales professionals alongside an immersive programme and hope that many will join us.”
