The Association of Travel Intermediaries reinvents itself
The Association of Travel Insurance Intermediaries (ATII) will now be known as UK Travel Insurance Association (UKTIA), marking a new chapter in its 36-year history.
The rebrand is said to ‘reflect the organisation’s growth beyond intermediaries and its commitment to representing the UK’s wider travel insurance sector’.
Alongside the name change, the association has unveiled a new website (www.uktia.com), providing members and the public with easy access to resources, updates, and information about the travel insurance sector.
Originally formed in 1989 for intermediaries, the association recognised the changing landscape of travel insurance as customer habits shifted, with most travel policies now purchased online.
Over time, companies involved in claims, assistance services, insurers, and other related sectors sought to join the association. To better represent the full spectrum of the travel insurance community, membership has now been expanded to include these key stakeholders.
Currently, UKTI boasts members ranging from the largest names in travel insurance to niche, specialist firms. Together, these organisations are responsible for the majority of travel insurance turnover in the UK, making the association a leading voice for the industry.
"This rebrand marks an exciting new chapter for our association and for the travel insurance industry as a whole, reflecting a modern identity for a changing travel insurance industry" said Tim Riley, Chair of UKTIA.
"With our expanded membership and renewed focus on best practices, transparency, and customer advocacy, we aim to build trust in travel insurance and ensure travellers feel supported at every step of their journey."
The UKTIA advocates for customers by promoting clear, fair, and reliable travel insurance. Its mission is to ensure travellers feel protected and supported wherever their journeys take them.
By setting and sharing best practices across the sector, UKTIA encourages the highest standards of service and professionalism - helping build customer confidence and providing peace of mind to travellers worldwide.
