Travel start-up photospotland.com has ambitions to unite travellers through their determination to capture the perfect picture while on their travels.

The firm is one of 13 embedded in the first London Traveltech Lab incubator, opened last month by Prince Andrew in the Thames-side offices of London & Partners.

Founded by chief executive Mario Bucolo, who hails from Italy, Photospotland offers registered users a wealth of information on capturing iconic shots of the places they visit.

Technical information such as the best time of day to find the ideal light and the best camera settings are available.Details of photos uploaded onto the site include what time of day it was taken, whether a filter or a flash was used and the lens type.

Photographers can write a description of how their shot was captured and how to travel to the precise spot using integration with Google Maps.

As the site is effectively a social network for keen snappers, likeminded people can be found and information exchanged and constantly updated.

Speaking to Travolution at the launch of the TravelTech Lab, Bucolo said the idea was to bring people together with a passion for travel, photography and culture.

The firm’s website is in open beta testing phase and its app is poised to be launched.

Bucolo said he will talk to tourist boards, attraction providers and even suppliers like cruise lines about collaborating business to business to get the app onto people’s phones.

He said a cruise line could load passengers’ itineraries on to the apps so that when they are on shore excursions they can plan their day around being at the right place at the right time.

As well as a white label offering he will also look to drive revenues through native advertising opportunities.
