Connectivity found to be more important than breakfast, pools, and views
Cheapflights survey underlines importance of Wi-Fi for British holidaymakers
Wi-Fi availability is a top priority for Brits when choosing a hotel, KAYAK brand cheapflights.co.uk has found in a survey.
The poll of 943 Brits by the flight deals and price comparison site found 56% or respondents looked for this amenity when choosing where to stay.
The survey also found that 53% wanted breakfast included in the price, 41% wanted a swimming pool, 33% needed a good restaurant at the hotel and 32% required a good view from their room.
Less important factors were flexible check-in/out (25%), a free shuttle bus (16%), availability of a lift (14%), a spa (13%) and Netflix or other media streaming options (8%)
The Cheapflights finding reflects the results of a similar global passenger survey conducted by aviation body Iata this year that found 53% consider Wi-Fi important to have on a flight.
Lasse Skole Hansen, of Cheapflights, said: “With the availability of Wi-Fi connectivity continuing to have a direct impact on the overall travel experience, adopting the fastest technology in hotels and also in the air, continues to be an effective way of attracting more guests and flyers.
“We all now want to keep up with what’s going on back home with friends, family and sometimes work, as well as share our own travel updates, so Wi-Fi is a must-have on our hols.”
