Founder of Sustainable Travel Technologies start-up recognised
The founder and CEO of Sustainable Travel Technologies has been named the winner of the 2025 People. Environment. Achievement. (P.E.A.) Award for Travel.
Rebecca Thompson was presented with the award during London Climate Action Week, which recognises individuals and organisations demonstrating outstanding commitment to environmental and social progress.
Founded in 2011, the P.E.A. Awards are the UK’s leading sustainability awards, spotlighting changemakers across sectors from energy to education, nature to travel.
Rebecca’s win highlights the growing momentum behind climate-focused innovation in the tourism industry, with judges praising her for developing solutions that address the sector’s urgent need to decarbonise.
Sustainable Travel Technologies, a certified social enterprise and B Corp, develops software that empowers accommodation providers to measure and reduce their carbon emissions. Its flagship software, ecolodgical, enables lodgings to calculate per-stay guest emissions and transparently communicate sustainability data in line with anti-greenwashing regulations. It has just gone live for early adopter signups.
Rebecca’s approach combines deep industry insight with a commitment to systemic change. By creating digital tools that integrate sustainability into everyday decision-making, her company is helping travel businesses transition to a lower-carbon future while educating travellers along the way.
Speaking about the award, Rebecca Thompson, CEO of Sustainable Travel Technologies, said: “It’s an honour to receive the P.E.A. Award for Travel. This recognition belongs to our entire team and community of partners who are working tirelessly to make tourism a force for good.
“At Sustainable Travel Technologies, we believe climate action in the travel sector is not just possible - it’s essential. Our goal is to give accommodation providers the tools they need to lead with integrity, meet emerging regulatory demands, and protect the very environments that make travel so enriching.”
Jarvis Smith, Founder of the P.E.A. Awards, said: “Tonight’s winners are among the strongest sustainability pioneers we’ve seen over the P.E.A. Awards’ 15-year history; they are superheroes in their own right, tearing up the script and daring to do things differently, for everyone’s sake.
“We hope everyone leaves here feeling connected, empowered and elevated, so they are ready to take their work to the next level.
“As we look ahead to the next 15 years, we must not forget that we are all connected; we must put unity at the core of sustainability.”
