Sequential growth of 23% from July to August and 38% from August to September took usage of Apaleo’s API-first MCP server up 70% over the third quarter.
The momentum is as visible among independents as it is with more structured operators, but adoption is mainly in staff-facing use cases, Apaleo says, such as revenue management, forecasting, reservations and reporting, with guest-facing agents still in the minority.
The ramp-up is driven by the need to automate repetitive tasks, standardise data access and avoid custom integrations for every tool.
According to research cited by the company, the h2c Hotel Chain Tech Report 2026, 91% of hotel chains now use AI, yet only 15% have already implemented a standardised data access layer.
Integration with existing systems remains a recurring barrier, and a common interface such as MCP aims to reduce complexity and accelerate the move into production for concrete use cases.
“A year ago, hoteliers were asking whether AI agents could do real work. Now they are asking how quickly they can hand more over. What changed is access. Once an operator can point an agent at live reservations, rates and guest data, the work gets done. We are seeing PMS migrations that used to take weeks run in hours, and forecasting work that occupied three people for a fortnight come back the same day,” said Philip von Ditfurth, founder of Apaleo.
Apaleo presents itself as an early mover in adapting the MCP protocol to a hotel PMS, standardising agent access to operational data and actions.
“Most hoteliers have already picked the AI they want to use. The question is whether their systems let them connect it, and too often the vendor decides that for them,” von Ditfurth added.
Several examples illustrate the uses cited by the company: Appenzeller Hotels updates upgrades and streamlines reporting; Brera Serviced Apartments has built a data lake and accelerated the production of forecasts; McDreams Hotels automates processes that used to require staff to consult data several times a day.
“We can automate repetitive processes, get relevant information faster, and use AI to help with questions that would otherwise take hours to answer. We’re still on a journey, but the potential is not just about saving time. It’s about making better use of the data we already have,” said Christoph Klein, chief marketing officer at McDreams Hotels.
Apaleo’s MCP server was launched in September 2025, marking the PMS’s move into agentic AI at platform scale.
In spring 2026, the vendor added an integrated conversational copilot to execute natural-language requests.
