Comparison site targets package market

Price comparison site Travelsupermarket.com is launching a package holiday price check after admitting traditional holidays have been neglected by online companies.

General manager Chris Nixon said while many sites have tapped into dynamic packaging, few have targeted the pre-packaged market.
“Although regarded as a declining market, there are still millions of people who want a basic holiday,” he told Travolution. “We offer dynamic packaging comparisons but believe there is still a market for traditional packages. We will offer the best of both worlds.”

The price check will launch in February with First Choice, Cosmos, MyTravel and Virgin already signed up. Nixon said negotiations were continuing with Thomas Cook and Thomson.

“Anyone who doesn’t want to self-package can now simply compare the best deals on the market and make sure they get the cheapest packages available,” she said. “It’s clear the industry shares our vision.”
