Travelport GDS, one of the world’s leading global distribution system (GDS) providers operating both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, has today announced details of a new global full content agreement with Spanish flag-carrier Iberia.
The new multi-year agreement secures all Travelport GDS-connected travel agents worldwide with access to the airline’s full range of published fares and inventory with immediate effect.
Iberia joins the vast majority of European carriers with whom Travelport has successfully negotiated content agreements.
“Iberia is a true global aviation power and its extensive route network is highly valued by our travel agency customers,” said Jérôme Moisan, Travelport GDS general manager UK and Ireland.
“Both Travelport and Iberia are also committed to exploring new opportunities together in developing geographic regions such as Latin America.”
Jose Arribas VP Commercial Logistics for Iberia added: “Travelport GDS has worked hard with us to support the distribution needs of our business and help overcome the challenges that exist in the current trading environment. Their technical expertise and depth of coverage worldwide is second to none.”
Iberia, which is present in over a hundred destinations in 40 countries, is the leading airline in the Europe-Latin American market, as well as routes connecting Spain with Europe and the USA. In 2008 Iberia carried 28.5 million passengers.
Today’s announcement with Iberia is the latest in a series of recently announced long term content agreements between Travelport and European flag carriers.
Travelport has successfully negotiated content agreements with the vast majority of leading European airlines including Aeroflot, Aegean Airlines, Air Berlin Group, Air France, Alitalia, Austrian, bmi, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Finnair, Flybe, KLM, Lufthansa, SWISS, TAP Air Portugal, SAS and Virgin Atlantic.
