Sabre presents its trust framework for agentic AI
The company has published The Secure AI Advantage, the third instalment in a series of white papers on agentic AI. In this paper, the company outlines a governance and security framework for deploying autonomous agents in the travel industry that does not compromise trust.
Sabre seems to have an answer for everything. While a recent article published on Security Boulevard warned of the dangers of entrusting tasks to an AI agent capable of making a reservation independently, the white paper “The Secure AI Advantage: Governance and Trust in Travel Technology', proposes a framework to mitigate these dangers. In this document, Sabre calls on the industry to rethink trust in the era of autonomous systems, explaining how the company is anchoring its technical strategy around the idea that the autonomy of travel systems requires security, governance and verifiability to be considered from the outset, reconciling speed of execution with control.
‘“Autonomy without trust is unusable; autonomy with trust is transformational”, explains Scott Moser, Chief Information Security Officer at Sabre. Recognising that the question of AI agents in travel is no longer 'What can they do?', but 'What can we let them do?', the software company explains that identifying and managing the permissions of agents — who are not always human — lies at the core of this issue.
The framework rests on four pillars. First, data is curated, protected and privacy-preserved. Second, agents have a continuous identity, beyond static identifiers, to authenticate and track every action. Third, resilience is based on real-time observability rather than simple periodic reviews. Finally, proactive, transparent and demonstrable governance is essential.
Sabre explains that these principles guided the development of its Travel Data Cloud (aggregated, anonymised and encrypted multi-source data with strict access control), its Sabre Mosaic platform and its Sabre IQ (AI Layer) and IQ Assurance Layer. These are designed to provide safeguards, traceability and accountability from the outset. The modernisation undertaken in partnership with Google Cloud over several years is presented as the foundation for operating securely at scale.
According to Sabre, in the era of agents who book and operate, competitive advantage will lie not only in autonomy, but also in the ability to provide controlled, traceable, governed and monitored autonomy.
