Revenue management platform PriceLabs has launched an AI-powered revenue analyst designed to help short-term rental operators identify pricing and revenue opportunities across their portfolios.

Called Athena, the tool is being introduced at VRMA 26 in Nashville and is designed to work proactively in the background rather than waiting for users to ask questions through a chatbot.

Athena monitors listings, identifies issues and potential opportunities, explains why they require attention and recommends actions that users can then accept, review or reject.

The company said the technology is designed for operators ranging from single-property hosts to professional revenue management teams.

Athena is built into the PriceLabs platform and draws on the company's revenue management technology and data science expertise, developed since its launch in 2014.

Rather than requiring users to write prompts or build their own automated workflows, Athena uses a series of pre-built revenue management checks, or "agents", developed and tested by PriceLabs.

These agents can run through scheduled "routines", with some checks available automatically from the start. Users can also create their own "skills" by describing the checks they want in plain language.

The platform also includes a chat function for users who want to ask questions about their account.

Athena uses information from each customer's account, including their listings, goals, preferences and notes, to tailor its recommendations rather than applying a generic analysis across properties.

Despite its ability to proactively identify and recommend actions, Athena does not make changes to a user's account without approval.

Recommendations are delivered through PriceLabs and email and include the supporting evidence behind each suggestion, allowing operators to review the rationale before deciding whether to act.

Every run and change is also logged, including the user who approved an action, giving operators a record of decisions made through the system.

Anurag Verma, co-founder of PriceLabs, said: “Athena is our next leap,” he said. “She brings faster analysis and sharper insights to everyone who manages revenue, so they can spend more time on strategy and less on spreadsheets.”

The launch reflects a broader shift in travel technology towards AI tools that can proactively identify tasks and opportunities rather than simply respond to user queries.

PriceLabs has positioned Athena as an AI "analyst" rather than a conventional chatbot, with the system continuously monitoring portfolio performance and surfacing issues without requiring operators to know what questions to ask.

The company said the approach is intended to make AI-powered revenue management accessible to operators regardless of the size of their business.

Athena is currently in beta and is being offered free to PriceLabs customers.

The company plans to add further capabilities during the beta period.
