Global air transport technology provider, SITA, has announced it will acquire Flightscape, the airline operations software business of Canadian CAE Inc.
With the new addition, it will strengthen its capabilities in flight planning, crew management and in‑flight operations, operations control, and the coordination of ground activities.
Once the acquisition completes, SITA plans to integrate Flightscape’s systems with existing SITA products in stages.
“Airlines need to make the best possible use of their aircraft, crews and infrastructure while responding to increasingly complex operational challenges,” said David Lavorel, chief executive of SITA.
“With Flightscape, we will bring together our complementary capabilities to strengthen what we offer airlines and to connect their operational decisions with insight from across the aviation ecosystem.
That will help our customers anticipate disruption, recover more effectively and run more resilient operations.”
The company says it wants to address the growing complexity of airline operations as traffic growth coincides with more frequent disruption.
The deal aims to improve decision‑making in operations control centres.
“The hardest decisions in an operations control centre come when plans change and every minute counts,” said Yann Cabaret, chief executive of SITA for Aircraft.
“Technology and AI can now help airlines and their partners see more of what is happening and respond together.
With Flightscape, our aim is to give an airline’s operations team and its partners across the industry the same information when plans change, so they can recover as one operation rather than as separate parts.”
SITA continues its growth‑by‑acquisition strategy, having acquired Safety Line in 2021 and Big Blue Analytics in 2026.
