Hospitable adds split payouts to simplify property manager payments

Move sees firm become first PMS to do so

Short-term rental technology provider Hospitable has launched a split payments capability that allows property managers and owners to receive their share of booking revenue from the same transaction.

The company claims the launch makes it the first property management system (PMS) to offer native split payouts across Vrbo and direct bookings, extending a capability previously available to managers using Airbnb's payments infrastructure.

Hospitable's Split Payouts product automatically divides booking revenue between the property owner and manager, with each receiving their share at check-in.

The company said the move is designed to remove the need for managers to collect the full booking value before transferring the owner's share, or for owners to receive the money and subsequently pay the manager's commission.

Traditionally, managers may reconcile owner payments as part of a monthly statement process, potentially leaving owners waiting for funds and requiring managers to track additional transfers.

Hospitable said the new approach means owner payouts can be initiated without waiting for the statement cycle to be completed, while managers can receive their commission without waiting for reconciliation.

The functionality is particularly aimed at professional property managers operating across multiple distribution channels.

Airbnb already supports split payments through its own payments infrastructure, but Hospitable said there has been no equivalent process for Vrbo and direct bookings, meaning managers have had to use different payment workflows depending on the booking source.

The company is now applying the same payout model across Airbnb, Vrbo and direct bookings.

Pierre-Camille Hamana, CEO and founder of Hospitable, said: "Property managers are competing hard for owners, yet one of the most important parts of that relationship, getting them paid, is still unnecessarily slow and fragmented," he said.

"Split Payouts means the manager and owner can each get their share from the same booking transaction."

The launch forms part of Hospitable's wider expansion into financial and owner-management infrastructure.

Its existing tools include owner statements, a branded owner portal, QuickBooks integration, owner payouts and a property manager marketplace.

Hamana said Hospitable had already taken on more of the financial complexity around taxes and payments and that payouts represented the next area where the PMS could reduce manual work for property managers.

Split Payouts is currently available on Hospitable's Mogul plan for payments processed through Hospitable on Vrbo and direct bookings.

The service is only available with US bank accounts currently with UK support planned to follow.
