Sponsored listings roll out worldwide
Expedia adds new partner features to Abritel
A little more latitude for partners. Abritel, Expedia’s French brand dedicated to vacation rentals, will enable owners and property managers to stimulate demand and generate additional revenue. Partners can now promote their properties through paid visibility and benefit from greater commercial flexibility on pricing and cancellation policies.
Vrbo Sponsored Listings are now available worldwide, following a pilot that surfaced these ads at the top of relevant search results. Expedia says it charges a commission on each night booked via these ads, removing the financial risk from partners.
Abritel is also equipping partners with tools to help optimise potential revenue. It is now possible to apply last‑minute pricing for bookings made within 24 hours of the stay. More options are coming soon: limited‑time offers to capture demand during promotion periods such as Black Friday, and the ability to offer a more competitive but non‑refundable rate.
Cancellation terms are likewise more flexible, with each partner now able to offer a full refund up to five days before arrival or as late as the day before.
According to Expedia, these innovations are designed to increase demand for hosts by giving certain listings more prominence and by seizing opportunities linked to price elasticity and promotions. The company also argues that overly rigid cancellation policies can deter bookings, so it is loosening this lever too.
“We are entering into one of the most exciting eras in our vacation rental history at Expedia Group,” said Tim Rosolio, vice president of Vacation Rental Partnerships at Expedia Group. “Our intentional investments across every corner of the business were designed to delight travelers while driving growth for our partners and unlocking the potential Expedia Group’s ecosystem has to offer.”
Expedia is also aligning with practices already offered by other players, notably Airbnb, which lets hosts accept same‑day bookings with tailored pricing, run limited‑time offers, provide a lower non‑refundable rate and adjust the window during which cancellation is permitted.
