Raises $17m; global Shake Shack tie-up
US HR specialist Blink has raised $17 million (€14.63 million) in a round led by Enlightened Hospitality Investments (EHI), the fund affiliated with Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, alongside a global partnership with Shake Shack. The move underlines the company’s ambition to establish itself as a go-to super‑app for employees across hospitality.
Blink brings internal communications, access to HR tools and self‑service features for frontline teams together in a single mobile app. Employees can swap shifts, view payslips and access key company information. In 2025, adoption of these tools grew 300% year on year, and the app was opened an average of seven times per user per day.
Spot early warning signs and adjust the organisation
The funds will be used to strengthen product and engineering teams, accelerate innovation of the AI platform and support its go‑to‑market in hospitality. Blink is highlighting its Blink IQ module, which aggregates real‑time data on employee feedback, productivity and turnover to spot weak signals earlier and adjust the organisation. For Shake Shack, the rollout aims to improve information flow, connection and engagement between the Support Center and in‑restaurant teams.
Frontline operations continue to face pressure: high turnover, persistent margin squeeze and increasingly fragmented organisations across locations, roles and shifts. Blink is pitching a common digital layer, accessible on mobile, to address those constraints. In this context, the company argues, AI is not merely a branding exercise but a means to improve coordination and engagement and, ultimately, the satisfaction and retention of frontline employees.
Blink cites cross‑sector customers in restaurants, hospitality, retail and transport, including McDonald’s, Domino’s, Booking.com, easyJet, JD Sports, Carrefour and Stagecoach. In 2025, the company says it added more than 700,000 users in hospitality alone. EHI, for its part, manages more than $550 million of committed capital. The specific financial terms of the Shake Shack partnership have not been disclosed. Blink says it will focus the new resources on product innovation and commercial execution.
