Leading European vertically-integrated tour operator Tui Travel has brought in open source data management specialist Talend to help it create a single view of the consumer.
The UK-based firm will use Talend’s Master Data Management (MDM) technology to consolidate its various data sources.
Jeremy Gidley, general manager CRM at Tui UK and Ireland, said: “We chose Talend MDM for a number of reasons after a detailed evaluation process.
“The solution met all of our business requirements, and delivered a cost-effective proposal in terms of development and licence fees.
“Talend also demonstrated capability to work closely with our systems integration partner Virtusa, to ensure successful delivery.
“Most importantly, we were able to clearly identify tangible business benefits that we could achieve in the future through implementing the solution, ensuring that we future-proofed our investment in this technology.”
Talend claimed the client win was evidence of growing interest in its technology from leading players in the travel sector.
It is tapping into a drive among many to offer their customer a more engaging experience as the focus moves to customer experience and retention as opposed to acquisition.
The firm said Talend MDM helps ensure data quality is maintained – “a critical differentiator in the travel industry, cleaning data and de-duplicating it where multiple records of the same person exist or where names have been misspelt or incorrectly input”.
Being open source Talend claims its technology is both easily accessible and can be more quickly and efficiently developed.
