Coronavirus: Icelolly.com launches UK holiday deals search to feed staycation demand

Launch in partnership with Snaptrip allows users to search for offers from domestic specialists

A new UK holiday deals search has been developed by comparison site icelolly.com anticipating a rise in demand for staycations.

The search platform, which has gone live today, features a range of properties and offer from leading domestic specialists.

The launch coincides with the lifting of travel restrictions meaning Brits can travel this summer after the COVID-19 lockdown was imposed from mid-March.

The initial launch is a partnership with lastminute cottage and apartments retailer Snaptrip.

It allows customers to select by destination, duration, group size and then to filter on property type, budget, and amenities such as swimming pools, gardens, hot tubs and pet friendly.

Alongside holiday search, icelolly.com said it will be bringing new offers and deals to their customers – including holiday parks, theme parks, UK tours, camping and glamping.

The UK launch will be headed up by Amy Russell, UK product manager, formerly of Jurys Inn Hotel Group and Superbreak.

A recent icelolly.com customer survey found 78% expect to take a UK break within the next 12 months with cottages the most desirable holiday type cottages followed by city breaks.

Richard Singer, icelolly.com chief executive, said: “UK has always been on the roadmap for icelolly.com.

“We have steadily built up our deals offering in the last 12 months to great success, however the launch of a holiday search that allows customers to choose the perfect holiday from over 60,000 properties gives our customers a market leading product.

“This is very much phase 1 of our UK product and we will continue to expand our offering over the coming months.

“At the start of lockdown, we had the aim to come out of this period in a stronger position and it is credit to the technology team, led by Tony Iacobucci, that we have been able to launch this so quickly”.
