German travel technology firm Peakwork has instigated remote working and cut staff hours as it reacts to the crisis caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

In a note to partners sent today, the firm’s chief operating officer and co-founder Michael Schmidt reassured partners that Peakwork is geared up to support its clients.

Schmidt said the firm is constantly evaluating the situation and has established a task force to respond to the latest developments. Peakwork has been operating entirely from individual home offices from Tuesday.

Schmidt said: “As part of our business continuity plan, our internal IT has checked and made sure our capacities are sufficient and all necessary tools are available to support remote working in a secure manner without any interruptions in support of your business.

“Having said that, for you as our partners and customers, nothing changes, and your point of contact will remain the same.

“In addition, we would like to point out that we established a task force to assess and respond to the latest events at all times.

“We are constantly re-evaluating the situation to identify possible effects it might have on our employees and customer orders, and will act accordingly as soon as needed.

“Furthermore, we have decided to navigate through this period of uncertainty by implementing short-time work starting March 20 to cushion the ongoing challenging situation.

“Again, this will not have any impact on us supporting you in your daily work with Peakwork.

“Our team is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of excellence that you are accustomed to and deserve.”

Despite the widespread impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the travel sector, Schmidt said he was confident that it would bounce back.

“We strongly believe that travelling will return to be an important part of our lives.

“Therefore, we are continuing to work on our product development to be prepared, once the situation is over and customers are starting to travel again.

“We will keep you updated with further information regularly. If you have any questions, please reach out to your account manager.

“Thanks for your understanding, stay healthy and take care of yourself and your family.”
