Airbnb leads $60m investment in tech ticketing platform

Firm offers access to attractions and museums in more than 60 countries

Airbnb has led a $60 million financing round in attractions and museums ticketing platform Tiqets.

The series C funding round included support from prior lead investors Investion and HPE Growth Capital.

Amsterdam-based Tiqets was founded in 2014 and now has offices around the world including London.

It offers access to thousands of venues in more than 60 countries.

The company said: “With this new funding, Tiqets plans to invest in initiatives that accelerate its growth, build richer experiences for customers, and create better tools for its venue partners – all in line with its vision of making culture more accessible for all.”

Co-founder and CEO Luuc Elzinga said: “We founded Tiqets to bring more people more frequently into the greatest venues around the world.

“We are thrilled to have Airbnb’s support and look forward to delivering great experiences to even more travellers.”

Airbnb art and culture director Philippe Magid added: “Travellers are seeking out a diverse range of experiences when they visit a new city.

“The Tiqets team has effectively used new technology to connect travellers to communities and we are excited to support their work.”
