Kayak’s sales director Robert Goldsmith has left the travel search engine to join programmatic technology platform provider MediaAlpha.

He takes on the role of director of demand partnerships for the company, which specialises in platforms for native search and metasearch, and will be responsible for helping MediaAlpha grow in the European travel advertising market.

Alongside the announcement, LA-based MediaAlpha released metrics showing that the value of media transacted through its platforms surpassed $250 million in 2017, a 43% year-over-year growth.

The company, which recently opened a London office, says its performance was fuelled by rapid growth in travel, one of its key sectors alongside auto insurance, health and life insurance and personal finance.

“Travel is one of the largest and fastest growing advertising sectors in the world, and it has quickly become an important driver of growth for our company,” said Steve Yi, co-founder and chief executive of MediaAlpha.

“Our technology is designed to bring radical transparency, granularity, and openness to the closed, opaque marketplace for performance-based travel search media, and Robert is the perfect addition to our leadership team to advance this vision in Europe.”
