Expedia reveals pan-European Facebook campaign

Expedia.co.uk has launched a pan-European Facebook campaign as part of its ‘Travel Yourself Interesting’concept.

Expedia.co.uk has launched a pan-European Facebook campaign as part of its ‘Travel Yourself Interesting’concept.

A collaborative effort between Expedia, digital creative agency Delete and agency Ogilvy and Mather, the Expedia Travel Profile Application is designed to celebrate the new experiences and perspectives that people obtain while travelling.

Damon Mangos, executive creative director at Delete, said: “Our key insight for the Expedia campaign was that social media is all about presenting a more interesting version of yourself to the world.

“We have built on this by creating a campaign tool, which allows users to profile themselves as travellers and broadcast this to their friends. The campaign is one of those unique instances where a proposition like ‘travel yourself interesting’ aligns with Facebook’s core functionality and the end creative solution so perfectly.”

James Davies. senior manager social media at Expedia EMEA, added: “The fact that almost half the content on Facebook relates to travel, shows how many of us consider it to be the source of our most interesting experiences.

“So, at Expedia, we wanted to bring a gaming element to this behaviour and create a little friendly rivalry by helping people to create a shareable snapshot of all their most interesting travel facts and moments to compare with and challenge their friends.

“Following the success of last year’s luggage tag Facebook app which Delete created for Expedia, they were a natural choice to build on this behaviour and bring this concept to life in a highly engaging way.”

The campaign launches in the UK this week and will be rolled out over seven other European countries – Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Demark, Italy and France – over the coming weeks.
