Travelzoo launches Solo September campaign to focus on people who travel alone

Dedicated microsite to offer inspiration, advice and special deals

Online deals site Travelzoo has launched Solo September to focus on issues associated with people who travel alone.

Throughout the month, Travelzoo will offer inspiration, advice and special deals without single supplements to solo travellers via a dedicated microsite.

The campaign comes on the back of recently commissioned research by Travelzoo which found that almost half (48%) of Brits who have been on holiday have travelled solo.

Of the 1,722 people surveyed, 65% think that solo travellers are penalised financially which provides a disincentive to get away by yourself.

Travelzoo has launched soloseptember.com to support the solo travel industry and provide a platform for a growing market to find deals for solo travel without being hit by a single supplement.

The firm says partners involved in the campaign across cruise, escorted touring and coach holidays, have all reported a sharp increase in solo travel over the past few years with one partner observing, ‘Travelling alone is no longer a last resort, it’s a rite of passage’.

James Clarke, general manager, UK, at Travelzoo, said: “At Travelzoo we are seeing a sharp rise in interest for solo holidays. Previously a type of travel full of judgement and social stigma, it’s now an acceptable and respected mode of travel.

“With these changes in attitude and the demand for solo trips, we are working more closely with partners who offer holidays for solo travellers to help combat the issues associated with solo travel pricing.  We hope that our Solo September campaign will encourage both seasoned and new solo travellers to book.”
