A five-star resort in Malta has become a GoPro partner and is encouraging its guests to use the high-tech camera to share snippets of their stay on social media.

Happy snapping guests staying at Corinthia St George’s Bay can borrow a top of the range GoPro camera from the hotel’s reception desk free of charge, but it costs €15 to take the 8GB memory card home.

They will be encouraged to post videos and photos on the hotel’s website and social media channels, using the hashtags #CHHolidaySnaps and #GoPro as part of the marketing drive.

It follows a similar partnership with GoPro at sister hotel the Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort.

User-generated videos, photos and testimonials are being used more and more in the travel sector as the industry looks to make its marketing content more personal.

Stuart Chappell, general manager at Corinthia St George’s Bay, said: “The partnership between GoPro and our sister hotel, the Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort, proved immensely popular. It showed that our guests really want an all-round authentic experience, rather than just a stay.

“We’re therefore delighted to extend this partnership to Corinthia St George’s Bay, allowing our guests to record and preserve the memory of their discoveries while in Malta.”
