A start-up that allows users to make savings on multi-centre trips was named the winner of this week’s Travel Forward start-up competition.

TripNinja was voted the winner at the World Travel Market event in London this week beating three other start-ups that made the final four after two previous rounds of pitching to expert panels of judges.

The competition was sponsored by Amadeus and the winner will receive a six month mentorship programme from the European technology giant’s EMEA executive vice president online travel agencies Francesca Benati.

TripNinja was joined in the final pitch stage of the competition by group travel specialist 15 2 Go, Fly Now Pay Later, which allows holidaymaker to speed the cost of their trips by up to 12 months, and Thimus, a neuroscience firm based in Italy and the US that plans to launch self evaluation kits next year that firms can use to capture data on people’s emotional reactions to their products.

Andres Collart, founder of TripNinja said that by split ticketing and combining open jaws customers can make substantial savings with its Flextrip product. The firm has integrated with both Amadeus and Travelport and Collart said it allows travel companies to decide their own mark-up so that partners and the consumer can share in the savings the system is able to identify.

The winner was chosen via a vote of delegates at the first Travel Forward conference being held during the three day annual WTM trade show at the Excel centre in east London.
