The B2B ground transportation arm of Booking.com is marking what it described as a milestone year during which the number of trade partners it works with grew by a third.

The Manchester-headquartered firm has seen a 40% increase in headcount in its Rentalcars Connect division in the last 12 months.

Rentalcars was established following the acquisition of TravelJigsaw in 2010 by booking.com parent Priceline.

Now a fully integrated part of booking.com’s business, Rentalcars has set out its stall to become an industry leader as a B2B partner, as well as it’s leading B2C position.

Growth over the last 12 months means over 850 new clients, including airlines, airports and travel companies, are now taking advantage of the firm’s technology and access to car rental, taxis, and airport transfers.

Fraser Ellacott, managing director at Rentalcars Connect, who was brought in from Tiu Travel in 2016 to grow the B2B business said:

“2017 was a milestone year for us, having taken on a number of major new partners, many of them global-facing airlines and travel companies.

“Our growth trajectory reflects sentiments across the industry about ancillaries, with more travel providers exploring exciting revenue streams for an all-encompassing booking experience.

“Looking ahead to 2018, our expansion is set to continue as we further invest in our talent and our tech expertise.

“Our focus will remain deeply engaged in developing our car rental platform and A/B testing technology to ensure the highest conversion rates for our partners, whilst continuing to build momentum across new and untapped markets.”
