Brief description

Life is becoming easier for parents looking for daycare places for their children in Friedrichshafen. Thanks to the Web-based KindergartenOnline portal, developed by T-City together with the Friedrichshafen child daycare centers, mothers and fathers can now research the different institutions at their leisure on the Internet. At www.kindergarten.friedrichshafen.de, parents discover where facilities are located, when they open and what educational concept the individual facilities support. When parents have found one or more establishments that appeal to them, they simply click to reserve a maximum of three daycare centers for their child and prioritize them. Initially, the request is sent to the first childcare facility on the list. If this daycare center has run out of free places, it forwards the request to the next one.

The childcare facilities themselves also stand to benefit from KindergartenOnline. They can use the system to map planning processes such as group-building and staff assignments faster and at greater ease. T-City makes the system available over the Internet from a central point of administration in order to save facilities having to invest in costly software. All child daycare centers therefore need is a PC with Internet access.

Project aim

The object of KindergartenOnline is to simplify the processes involved in the allocation and organization of daycare places for parents as well as the facilities themselves. At the same time, it is intended that the Web-based system will provide a better overview of the demand for daycare places in Friedrichshafen.

Benefit

Both the daycare facilities and children's parents stand to benefit from KindergartenOnline: The system facilitates the choice of establishment as well as the application process for their offspring. As for the facilities themselves, the modular solution simplifies the internal administration and planning processes, and helps to improve transparency.

Project status

33 childcare facilities in T-City have been linked to the system since December 2009. The solution is also easy to transfer to other city scenarios.
