Business travellers can now access Egencia on smart watches on a new app.

Egencia, the business travel arm of Expedia, has announced it will roll out its service on apps for Apple Watch and Android Wear.

It aims to be a discreet personal assistant for travellers by providing step-by-step alerts, real-time travel updates, ground transport options and map facilities.

Users can switch between the watch apps and Egencia services on other devices and summon their travel consultant by tapping the watch.

“Egencia is meeting the demand among business travellers for consumer-quality products,” said Michael Gulmann, vice president of global product. “Since we own, develop, and run our own technology, we are able to quickly bring these wearable apps to market based on that demand.

“When travellers are shown a familiar and consumer-like experience, adoption and compliance follow.”

The firm says business travellers carry an average of three devices on the road and expect to see their content and settings carry over to each.

Egencia has recently significantly redesigned its mobile hotel experience for business travellers using iPhone, iPad, and Android devices to make it consistent with the desktop version.

Smart watch users can download the app in the Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play store. A hotel update for iOS and Android will be available later this month.
